The Turks in Germany, so called the German-Turks, have been came as guest workers to Germany and they are living almost since 50 years here in this land. The most of the third generation German-Turks are today German citizens and had built themselves more and more into a parallel community. The ones who feel themselves in German community still discriminated, isolated themselves from the outside world. As a result of this situation, which we may name as “being in between”, they formed an own infrastructure and an associated intertillage. This self-contained cultural life has its own aesthetics which often express itself in different forms of kitsch. Kitsch exists not only as a aesthetic form but also satisfies an important social function. Kitsch offers the German-Turks an emotional fulfillment and enables a distraction from the complexity of the reality. >>
